Module 07: Strengthening the Management Capacity of POSLUHDES
Ginger Farming Policies and Quality Standards
This module, authored by the Technical Team of BPSI TROA (Balai Pengujian Standar Instrumen Tanaman Rempah, Obat dan Aromatik), Kusuma Westri (Mustika Ratu), and Ernawati (Directorate of Vegetables and Medicinal Plants, Ministry of Agriculture), focuses on developing ginger farming and ensuring its compliance with national and industrial quality standards. It is part of the collaborative program between Indonesia’s Badan Standardisasi Instrumen Pertanian (BSIP) and AFACI to enhance Posluhdes (Village Agricultural Extension Posts) capacity as innovators in herbal agribusiness.
In summary, the module integrates technical, legal, and practical aspects of ginger cultivation to empower farmers through POSLUHDES networks—linking high-quality, traceable herbal production with sustainable rural industry and export competitiveness.
Practical sections guide participants through all production phases: media preparation, sterilization, seeding (inokulasi), incubation, harvest, and post-harvest handling. The module also explains the Kubung Jamur (mushroom houses) standard designs supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, including construction dimensions, material standards, and yield capacity benchmarks.
