This paper presents an overview of the Community Fodder Seed Programme in Kyrgyzstan through which community seed funds support farmers affected by natural disasters in mountainous regions. It also examines the operational and technical aspects required to create community seed funds.
Developments in the country’s agricultural sector since 1991 are outlined, with a focus on seed production and distribution. The role of various stakeholders in these efforts is analysed, along with the impact of land reassignment and legal frameworks surrounding seed fund development.
